Kailash Mansarovar — The Pilgrimage

Of all the pilgrimages described in Hindu scripture, Kailash Mansarovar holds the highest place. Mount Kailash (6,638m) in Tibet is the abode of Lord Shiva — the axis mundi, the centre of the universe, the mountain that connects earth to heaven. Lake Mansarovar at its base is the mind of Lord Brahma.

The Sacred Parikrama

The 52-kilometre circumambulation of Mount Kailash — the Parikrama — is the heart of the yatra. Pilgrims believe completing one Parikrama wipes away sins of a lifetime. Crossing the Dolma La Pass (5,630m) — the highest point — is an act of complete surrender. The descent to Zuthulphuk monastery brings a peace that is impossible to describe.

The Lipulekh Route — India's Own Path

The ancient Indian route to Kailash Mansarovar passes through Dharchula — our home — and crosses the Lipulekh Pass (5,334m) into Tibet. This 13-day journey through the Kumaon Himalayas is the most spiritually immersive route. Unlike the Nepal route, this path traces the footsteps of ancient pilgrims through sacred Indian Himalayan villages.

Lake Mansarovar — The Sacred Dip

At 4,556 metres, Lake Mansarovar's crystal-clear waters reflect the peak of Kailash. The sunrise over this lake — with Kailash turning gold and the water perfectly still — is a vision that changes people. The ritual dip in the freezing waters, taken at dawn, is accompanied by prayers that have echoed across these mountains for thousands of years.
