Season Breakdown

What to Expect Each Season

May & June โ€” Summer
Peak Clarity Season
Fresh snow on Adi Kailash, crystal blue skies, wildflowers in the Jolingkong valley. Om Parvat symbol perfectly visible. Roads freshly cleared. Best for photography. Our May and June batches fill up first โ€” book 8 weeks ahead.
July & August โ€” Monsoon
Manageable but Variable
The route stays open but afternoon clouds and occasional rain affect views. Mornings are usually clear. We schedule Om Parvat and Jolingkong visits for 4:30am departure to beat the clouds. Build 1โ€“2 buffer days into your itinerary.
September & October โ€” Autumn
Best Overall โ€” Our Recommendation
Post-monsoon sky is a deep, washed blue. Adi Kailash stands with extraordinary clarity. Om Parvat symbol is crystal clear โ€” October's fresh snow defines it perfectly. Fewest pilgrims โ€” most peaceful darshan of the year. October includes Navratri โ€” auspicious timing.

Key Information

Altitude Points & Acclimatisation

The jump from Dharchula (915m) to Jolingkong (4,572m) happens over 2โ€“3 days. This is significant โ€” equivalent to flying from sea level to over 15,000 feet. Acclimatisation is non-negotiable. All our packages include a mandatory rest day at Gunji (3,200m). We never skip this.

Questions

FAQ โ€” Planning Your Yatra

How far in advance should I book? +
For May and June batches โ€” at least 8 weeks ahead. For September and October โ€” 6 weeks. We have limited seats per batch (small groups only) and popular dates fill up quickly.
Can I do the yatra during school holidays (May or October)? +
Yes โ€” both are excellent. May half-term and Diwali (October) are our most popular booking windows. Book early as these fill first.
Is the yatra suitable during Navratri? +
October Navratri is considered the most auspicious time to complete Adi Kailash darshan. Many pilgrims specifically plan for this window. The Om symbol is also clearest in October.
What is the weather like at the viewpoints? +
At Jolingkong (4,572m) and Nabidhang (4,340m), temperatures range from โˆ’2ยฐC to 10ยฐC even in summer. Nights drop to below freezing. Pack warm regardless of the time of year.
Can I do a weekend trip? +
No โ€” the Adi Kailash yatra is a minimum 7-day journey from Dharchula. The route is deep in the mountains and requires acclimatisation time. There is no shortcut.
