When to Visit

Best Time for Om Parvat Darshan

The clarity of the Om symbol varies dramatically by season. May and September-October give the sharpest views โ€” fresh snow fills the crevices perfectly at these times.

๐Ÿ’ก Local Insight from Dharchula:
In July and August we always schedule Nabidhang for 4:30am departure from Gunji. By 6am we are at the viewpoint and the Om is clearly visible before monsoon clouds build. This early morning darshan of Om Parvat is one of the most powerful experiences on the yatra.

Questions

FAQ โ€” Om Parvat Darshan

Can I see Om Parvat without doing the full Adi Kailash yatra? +
Yes โ€” Om Parvat can be visited as a standalone yatra. The Nabidhang viewpoint (4,340m) is on the route to Adi Kailash. We offer a 7-day Om Parvat package from Dharchula at โ‚น30,000.
Is the Om symbol always visible? +
No โ€” the Om symbol is clearest when a specific depth of snow fills exactly the right crevices. It is most defined in May and October. In heavy snowfall conditions the symbol can ironically become invisible โ€” too much snow fills the contrast. Julyโ€“August monsoon clouds can obscure the view but mornings are usually clear.
What is the altitude at the Om Parvat viewpoint? +
The Nabidhang viewpoint is at 4,340m (14,238 feet). Acclimatisation at Gunji (3,200m) is essential before proceeding โ€” we include this in all packages.
Do I need binoculars? +
Strongly recommended. The naked eye view of Om Parvat is spectacular, but binoculars bring the Om symbol into sharp, unmistakable clarity. We provide binoculars at the viewpoint for all our guests.
