Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. Transfer to hotel. Welcome briefing, meet your trek leader. Rest and acclimatise to Kathmandu (1,400m). Overnight Kathmandu.

Day 2 — Kathmandu Sightseeing & Briefing

Full day tour of Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and Patan Durbar Square. Evening: detailed trek briefing, permit processing and equipment check. Overnight Kathmandu.

Day 3 — Drive to Syabrubesi / Tibet Border

Early morning drive north through the Trishuli valley towards Rasuwagadhi (Rasuwa) border crossing with Tibet — approx 8–9 hrs. Complete Nepal immigration formalities. Overnight near border.

Day 4 — Cross Border & Drive to Kyirung (Gyirong)

Cross into Tibet at Rasuwagadhi–Gyirong border. Chinese immigration and Tibet Permit check. Drive to Gyirong Town (2,700m) — your first night in Tibet. Acclimatisation walk in Gyirong Valley.

Day 5 — Drive Kyirung to Saga

Long drive across the Tibetan Plateau to Saga (4,640m). Pass through dramatic high-altitude landscape. Acclimatise — short walk recommended. Overnight Saga.

Day 6 — Saga to Lake Mansarovar

Drive to the sacred Lake Mansarovar (4,590m) via Paryang and Dongba. Arrive at the holiest lake on earth. Holy dip (parikrama of the lake optional). Puja ceremony at the lakeshore. Overnight Mansarovar.

Day 7 — Mansarovar to Darchen

Morning prayers and second dip at Mansarovar. Visit Chiu Monastery perched above the lake. Drive to Darchen (4,560m), the base town for the Kailash Parikrama. Trek briefing and preparation.

Day 8 — Darchen to Diraphuk (Parikrama Day 1)

Begin the 52-km sacred Kailash Parikrama. Trek north through Lha Chu valley past prayer flags and mani walls to Diraphuk (5,100m) — the monastery with the closest view of the north face of Mount Kailash. 10–12 km trek. Overnight Diraphuk.

Day 9 — Dolma La Pass & Zutulphuk (Parikrama Day 2)

The most sacred and challenging day. Cross Dolma La Pass (5,630m) — the highest point of the parikrama. Descend past Gauri Kund lake to Zutulphuk monastery (4,790m). 20–22 km trek. Overnight Zutulphuk.

Day 10 — Complete Parikrama & Return to Saga

Final leg of parikrama back to Darchen (6 km). Completion of the sacred circuit around Mount Kailash. Drive back to Saga. Rest and celebrate the completion of this divine journey. Overnight Saga.

Day 11 — Drive Saga to Kyirung (Gyirong)

Return drive westward across the Tibetan Plateau to Gyirong Town. Overnight Gyirong.

Day 12 — Cross Border & Return to Kathmandu

Cross back into Nepal at Rasuwagadhi. Complete Nepal immigration. Drive back to Kathmandu — approx 8–9 hrs. Overnight Kathmandu.

Day 13 — Buffer Day / Rest in Kathmandu

Buffer day for any delays due to weather, road conditions or permit issues. Use this day for rest, shopping in Thamel, or visiting Kathmandu Valley sites. Overnight Kathmandu.

Day 14 — Departure

Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport. Depart Kathmandu with sacred memories of the abode of Lord Shiva. Om Namah Shivaya 🕉️
