Om Parvat — God Signs in Snow
The peak where nature itself wrote the sacred Om — a natural miracle at 6,191 metres.
At 6,191 metres, Om Parvat stands as one of the most spiritually charged peaks in the Himalayas. What makes it extraordinary is not just its altitude — it is the natural formation of the sacred syllable 'ॐ' (Om) on its snow-covered face, formed by exposed black rock and white snow in perfect proportion.
The Miracle Nobody Planned
No human hand drew this symbol. Geologists point to centuries of glacial movement, rockfall, and snowpack patterns. Pilgrims simply say — Lord Shiva signed his mountain. The Om symbol is visible from the Nabidang ridge, roughly 4 kilometres away. The best visibility is from May to September when snow contrasts sharply against dark rock.
The Trek From Dharchula
Our Om Parvat trek begins in Dharchula and follows the same ancient route used by Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims — through Sirkha, Malpa, Budhi, Gunji, Kalapani, and Nabidang. At Nabidang (3,600m), pilgrims get their first clear view of the Om symbol. We stay one extra night here for sunrise darshan — when the pink morning light hits the symbol, it appears to glow.
Kalapani — The Sacred Confluence
En route to Om Parvat, the trek passes Kalapani — the sacred origin of the Kali river and the location of a revered Kali temple. For centuries this was the last Indian checkpost on the Kailash Mansarovar route. Today it remains a place of deep spiritual energy, where the mountains close in and the sky opens wide.
