The traditional Indian overland route โ passing right through Dharchula, our home. Crossing the Lipulekh Pass (5,334m) into Tibet, then reaching sacred Lake Mansarovar and completing the 52km Kailash Parikrama.

Arrive Dharchula โ Acclimatisation
Arrive Dharchula (915m). Check in, permits arranged. Rest and acclimatise. Evening briefing.

Dharchula to Gunji (3,200m)
Drive through the stunning Kali Valley. Arrive Gunji โ acclimatisation halt. Village walks.

Gunji to Nabi โ Border Villages
Drive to Nabi village via ancient Bhotiya settlements. Acclimatise at 3,600m.

Nabi to Lipulekh Pass (5,334m) โ Enter Tibet
Cross the legendary Lipulekh Pass into Tibet. Descend to Taklakot (Purang). Historic India-Tibet border crossing.

Taklakot โ Acclimatisation
Rest day in Taklakot. Explore local Tibetan market. Body adjusts to high altitude (3,900m).

Taklakot to Lake Mansarovar (4,590m)
Drive to the sacred Lake Mansarovar. Holy dip in the lake. Havan puja. Overnight at Mansarovar.

Mansarovar to Darchen Base Camp
Circumambulate part of Mansarovar. Drive to Darchen (4,575m) โ base camp for Kailash Parikrama.

Parikrama Day 1 โ Darchen to Diraphuk (4,900m)
Begin sacred 52km Kailash Parikrama. Trek from Yam Dwar to Diraphuk monastery. North face of Kailash views.

Parikrama Day 2 โ Dolma La Pass (5,630m)
The most sacred day. Cross Dolma La โ highest point of parikrama. Descend to Zuthulphuk (4,760m).

Parikrama Day 3 โ Complete & Return to Darchen
Complete the circumambulation. Return to Darchen base camp. Celebration of completion.

Darchen to Taklakot
Drive back to Taklakot. Rest and recovery. Evening prayers at local monastery.

Taklakot to Lipulekh โ Return to India
Cross back over Lipulekh Pass into India. Descend to Gunji or Nabi. Sacred return journey.

Return to Dharchula โ Departure
Drive back to Dharchula. Yatra complete. Blessings of Kailash carried home.

What is the difference between the Lipulekh and Kathmandu routes? +
The Lipulekh route is the traditional India route โ it passes through Dharchula (our home) and is the most authentic. The Kathmandu route via Nepal offers more flexible dates. Both routes reach Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.
Is the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra physically demanding? +
Yes โ the Kailash Parikrama covers 52km including a crossing of Dolma La Pass at 5,630m. This is a strenuous yatra. Good physical fitness, gradual acclimatisation and prior medical clearance are essential. Age limit: 18โ70 years.
What permits are needed? +
Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) permit, China Group Visa, and Inner Line Permit for Lipulekh route. We arrange all permits. Processing takes 4โ6 weeks so book well in advance.
What is the cost? +
The Lipulekh and Kathmandu routes are priced on request as costs vary with group size and dates. The Aerial Darshan option is โน53,000 per person. Contact us on WhatsApp for a personalised quote.
When is the best time for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra? +
June to September. September is the finest month โ post-monsoon crystal clear skies, stable weather, and the fewest pilgrims on the parikrama route.
